The Driving Standards Agency (DSA) recommend 44 hours of professional lessons to pass a driving test, everyone learns at their own pace so this is only an average figure.
Your lessons can be one, one and a half or two hours long depending on your availability and your driving instructors.
Automatic vehicles are easier to learn in and if you have a disability or limited mobility they will probably be the best choice for you. However if you pass your driving test in an automatic vehicle your licence will only allow you to drive an automatic, if you pass your driving test in a manual vehicle you are legally allowed to drive manual and automatic.

“I had Andy as my driving instructor and he was great! Very patient and helped me pass first time. He helped make sure I was confident driving and taught me all the skills needed to drive independently which have been incredibly helpful since passing. I would recommend him and 1st Driving School!!”
“I am thrilled to say I passed my driving test on the first attempt, and I know I could not have done it without Kev’s help. From the very beginning, Kev made me feel comfortable and confident behind the wheel, which made each lesson enjoyable and stress-free. His patience, guidance, and fantastic sense of humour made all the difference — I always looked forward to our lessons. If you are looking for a driving instructor, I highly recommend Kev — you will be in great hands!”
